Our usual club runs are held on Sunday and Wednesday mornings. We meet in the Co-op car park, Holmfirth, at 09.00 during the summer months, and at 09.30 in autumn and winter.
To cater for a range of riding experiences we have four speeds of ride to choose from (A to D). Whilst we welcome new riders, for the safety of others in a group ride we do expect you to have a basic level of road sense, confidence and awareness of others before riding with us. More experienced members are always on hand to allow you to discuss and demonstrate your confidence level and awareness on the road.
Club runs are planned by volunteer members who navigate groups of up to eight riders at a time, in line with Club requirements. The runs are posted on the HCC Members Facebook pages as GPS files, showing the distance and profile of each route. If you are wanting to try out up to three rides before joining you will need to get in touch by contacting the Club Run Rep.
We also have a variety of other club runs:
Club away days
Periodically, throughout summer, some Sunday and Wednesday rides are arranged to start from further afield for riders looking to expand their experience of local geography and topography. They would normally be planned to start within an hours drive time from Holmfirth, and cover areas such as Derbyshire, Cheshire, Lancashire and the Yorkshire Wolds.
Club run abroad
This is a well established feature of HCC with riders and their families usually taking part. It is an excellent opportunity to shake off the winter cobwebs and cover some decent miles in the warmth of southern Europe. We have mainly focussed on Puerto Pollenca on Mallorca as it is a small well placed resort with immediate access to some of the best riding anywhere. New riders are always welcome and it is a chance to get to know people as we usually all end up in the same hotel. Members take their own bikes or hire in the resort and there are usually two or three different ride choices each day.
Club run weekends away
We plan occasional weekend jaunts based around campsites, often with a pub close by, in neighbouring counties. The usual format is a pub meal on Friday evening followed by a selection of longer routes on Saturday and evening barbecue. Sunday routes are shorter to allow for packing up camp gear.
Chip Butty Club Run
Smaller get-togethers include the Chip Butty run where we meet up at a suitable hostelry for a Chip Butty and a get together. These tend to happen in the Spring, September and around Christmas.
Upcoming events will be posted on the Events page, with full details on the HCC Members Facebook pages.
