As a club we welcome new members with electric bikes (e bikes). This new technology has also given some of our existing members the confidence to tackle more challenging routes.
Riding an e bike within a group can create challenges for other riders when tackling varied terrain, and particularly on the hills we find around Holmfirth. So we ask that e bike riders are mindful of others and moderate their speed as and when appropriate.
As one of our e bike champions puts it:
As more of us are riding e bikes, powered riders need to be mindful and respectful of their unassisted companions. Do try to match speed and direction with other members of the group.
On hills, it’s ok to go up hills on an e bike a little bit faster, but be respectful of those putting in a great deal of effort. It’s polite not to overtake a rider as they are on the point of reaching the summit.
